Why should people get vaccinated against the flu?

Influenza is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. Every flu season is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently. Even healthy people can get very sick from the flu and spread it to others. Over a period of 31 seasons between 1976 and 2007, estimates of flu-associated deaths in the United States range from a low of about 3,000 to a high of about 49,000 people. During a regular flu season, about 90 percent of deaths occur in people 65 years and older. The “seasonal flu season” in the United States can begin as early as October and last as late as May.

During this time, flu viruses are circulating in the population. An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to reduce the chances that you will get seasonal flu and lessen the chance that you will spread it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread through that community.

Scope of position responsibilities

• Manage and schedule patient appointments as per provider’s schedule.
• Obtains all necessary patient records as required by the provider.
• Contact medical facilities, hospitals to schedule patients for tests and/or admission.
• Provides requested charts to medical staff in a timely manner.
• Answering phones, making appointments, registering patients.

Minimum qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Work experience as a Receptionist is preferred.
• Demonstrated user proficiency with computer systems and all Microsoft office software.
• 10-key data entry method preferred.
• Prefers someone with strong communication skills and be able to multi-task.

The flu shot is a simple way to decrease your risk of getting sick from the viral respiratory illness known as influenza. This year’s annual flu shot will offer protection against the pandemic H1N1 (swine flu) virus. Last year people had to receive a separate flu shot to obtain protection against pandemic H1N1 influenza.

Unless you like headache, fever and a persistent cough, achy muscles and joints, don’t forget to stop a medical clinic near you to get yourself a flu shot.
